&Tradition Bellevue Wall Lamp
The &Tradition Bellevue Wall Lamp designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1929.
It was a time of enlightenment, a time for a fresh view on human life and a breakthrough for functionalism. It was also the year of the Wall Street crash. All was not dark however as crisis tends to enhance creativity and in the world of architecture and design, minds were set free. The superfluous, the unnecessary, was sliced off and simplistic and industrial solutions were found and developed. The focus was now on what was rational and functional. Arne Jacobsen made his breakthrough that year.
The Bellevue range of lamps were created when Jacobsens ingenuity was at its freshest, when functionalism was born. Even as an early work, it bears the unmistakable characteristics of Arne Jacobsen design. Now, the Bellevue lamps have been reintroduced in the same spirit and tradition of this timeless piece.
