A task lamp is a highly technical object. Rotation mechanism, arm reach, counter balance, degree of efficiency, safety… It must all be there. How to use it must be self-explanatory to anyone. Hiding all the mechanics and electronics left a no-nonsense design. Wastberg w081 Wall Lamp almost designed itself. Arm, elbow, head. And light.
The Swedish architects and designers Mårten Claesson, Eero Koivisto and Ola Rune opened their studio in Stockholm, in 1995. Commissions for the multi-award winning practice include the Inde/Jacobs gallery in Texas, Nobis Hotel and Hotel Skeppsholmen in Stockholm, Sfera Building in Kyoto, Tind prefab houses and a number of private houses in Sweden and abroad. Their architectural work has been exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale. As designers they work with Arflex, Cappellini, Fontana Arte, Kasthall, Living Divani, Marsotto Edizioni, Offecct, Paola Lenti, Swedese and Tacchiniamongst others. Their designs have won awards including Designer of the Year 2011 and 2014 by Elle Décor Italia, Red Dot “Best of the Best” 2014 and The Bruno Mathsson Prize 2015.
For Wästberg they have designed the w081 series, the w126 series, the w131 series, w151 Extra Large Pendant and w161 Marfa.
